It’s time! In one of the most anticipated female vs female matches as of late our lightweight star, Akela ⓘ “The Lioness”, squares off against the rising star, “The Shieldmaiden” Rage ⓘ. Rage promised to take over the lightweight division when she joined Fight Pulse last year. However, on her ascent there is a huge obstacle by the name of Akela. Can she tame her, or will she fall at the hands and legs of the seasoned redhead warrior? This important match in the division is one of the most aggressive FW titles as of late, and an absolute must see for all fans of competitive female wrestling!

I have to say that I am more of a fan of non-competitive fights. The holds are longer, allowing for excellent camera angles, and you can see some really spectacular, scripted holds, which are almost impossible to pull off in a competitive fight. With competitive, tapouts can come so fast, that is impossible to have great camera coverage of the hold. Having said that, it is not the case here. With the exception of one submission, which came very fast, after the hold had been applied, everything else is covered perfectly, which is the trademark of Fight Pulse. No unnecessary zooming in and out, and/or panning. Just a steady camera, covering the action.
There is nothing non-competitive in this fight. Two great looking girls, real warriors giving it all out there. Pretty evenly matched, that is why I find the final score to be somewhat surprising. These two need to meet again, a rematch is a must.
The best segment of the fight has to be when one girl applied a full nelson / body scissors combo. There is no way out of that double hold and hat off to the girl who did not want to submit right away. She fought, trying to get free, even though I think she knew that in the end her submission is the only way out. That is why this hold lasted so long, giving us viewers a great opportunity to enjoy it.
In the end, it appears that one girl was gassed out, her opponent showing more stamina and endurance. Technically both girls are very good, but the winner seemed to be just a bit stronger than her rival. Her holds, especially leg scissors were more powerful, and she just overpowered the other girl, which lead to her victory.
If there is going to be a rematch, and I hope there will be one, unless the girl who lost this time changes her strategy, the outcome may be the same. I was kinda rooting for the girl who lost, and I hope she gets her opponent next time. Go get her, girl!
