MX-89: Miesha vs Viktor

In this competitive mixed wrestling match, our talented lightweight, The Triangle Queen, Miesha , takes on another fit and strong male in the newcomer, Viktor .

This is Viktor’s first ever competitive match. In the pre-match interviews he says that he believe that there is a 50% chance of either of the two winning the match, and that he will rely on his strength to counter Miesha’s obvious technical advantage. And MX-89 turns out to be a classic strength and size against technique match.

As it turns out, Viktor’s power and size advantage are not enough to withstand Miesha’s skills. His toughness helps him survive in Miesha’s triangles longer than others, but eventually he capitulates every time. Triangle holds and clever judo pins lead Miesha to another dominant victory in this rough competitive intergender battle.

If you are a fan of real mixed wrestling, with aggression from both sides, but a decisive victory of the female, and especially if you are a fan of the triangle hold, then MX-89 is for you!

Match outline: introductory interviews, staredown, the match itself (15 minutes), victory pose (foot on face), concluding interviews.

Miesha has all the advantages in this match against Viktor, except for size and youth. And even his youth is a bit of a mixed bag, since it means he is less experienced too. Miesha comes into this match with a large amount of experience and training, having a background in BJJ, Judo, and MMA. And she has already had a few competitive mixed matches at Fight Pulse, going into this match, against men that are bigger and/or more experienced than Viktor. And she also does not underestimate her male opponent, saying that he looks strong and that she will do her best, saying that she’s giving herself maybe a 60% chance of winning in the pre-match interview. Viktor, on the other hand has never done a competitive wrestling match at all before this match with Miesha, but still he says in the pre-match interview that he thinks he will have a 50% chance of winning, because he thinks that his size advantage and strength will help him power out of Miesha’s holds or stop her from putting him in the holds to begin with. So either he is underestimating his opponent, which is a terrible mistake in any competition (physical or otherwise), or he just does not know enough to realize how little he knows about wrestling, how much his opponent knows or both. He also has no formal training, unlike his opponent, who has a great background of experience, which I mentioned above, and that is very important factor in wrestling and grappling. Viktor is without a doubt a fit and strong young man, he does have a size advantage over her (being about 5 inches taller and 26 lbs. heavier than she is), and is also quite a bit younger than than Miesha. But as he will soon find out none of those things is enough to be sucessful against an opponent as experienced and tough as Miesha!

Once the match begins, the importance of training and experience becomes very clear, as Miesha takes control of the match and pretty much keeps that control for the entire match as well. She repeatedly is able to get him in her famous triangle holds and squeeze submissions out of him, despite his attempts to stop her! To be sure, it is not very easy for Miesha at first, as the youthful Viktor has plenty of energy and strength and is able to put up some resistance and make her work for the early submissions that she gets. But he has no answer at all for her triangle holds, which she is very good at applying and no matter what he tries, he is unable to avoid her legs throughout the match. Indeed, sometimes he seems to just put himself right between her legs, making Miesha’s job even easier. That is the most glaring example of Viktor’s inexperience and it really costs him in the match. As the video continues, Miesha just continues to force Viktor into painful triangle holds, using her legs to effectively negate Viktor’s size and strength advantage. And every time she gets him in a hold, it also reduces his energy and strength, as she just wears him down, bit by bit, with every hold. Miesha is also able to use some pins effectively as well, to win a few points against Viktor during the video. And she also uses her legs to apply some body scissor holds during the match too, which also weaken him while helping her to keep control of him at the same time.

But it is the head scissor triangle holds which really weaken Viktor and destroy any chance he may have had to do well in this match. Miesha’s legs are obviously very strong and she also is obviously an expert in using them! Her legs effectively subdue her opponent and force him to submit to her over and over again! Throughout this video, Miesha is able to wrap her thick, strong thighs around Viktor’s neck and head, while also controlling one of both of his arms at the same time, leaving him no chance to escape and ultimately no choice but to submit the point to her and start again. Her legs are simply too strong for him and they completely bring him doom and defeat! And despite the good effort he gives, Viktor also seems to be getting more and more tired as the match continues which makes it tougher for him to resist, and Miesha seems to have much better stamina, being less tired than Viktor by the midpoint of the video and definitely by the end. I thought the fact that Viktor is about 12 years younger than Miesha (which is a Huge age gap in grappling and wrestling or really in any physical competition) would help him in this match, as far as stamina goes, but Miesha’s stamina is definitely better than Viktor’s, which I think is partly thanks to her training and previous experience. The young man obviously puts forth a great effort in this match but he simply just can not do anything to stop this tough woman, regardless of what he tries.

This video is yet another great example of how important experience is in a wrestling match and how it can be the deciding factor, even if the less experienced opponent is larger and stronger than the experienced one. Miesha’s experience and training allow her to win a decisive victory in this video, over the ironically named Viktor, who is inexperienced and completely unprepared for an opponent like Miesha! He obviously tries, as I said before, but it is to no avail. I would highly recommend this video to anyone who wants to see a match that is competitive only in the fact that both opponents are trying their best to win, but becomes a dominant match as the older, smaller, but much better trained and experienced woman wears down and defeats a younger, larger, but untrained and inexperienced man. It’s a classic example of just that but still a very enjoyable video to watch. Miesha is clearly a great wrestler and I think she will be a rising star at Fight Pulse well into the future, if she stays around and continues to be as dominant against her future opponents as she was in this match!
